Two representatives of the Commonwealth Games Mauritius, namely Mr. Richard Papie and Mr. Hedley Han, are currently on mission in Birmingham, relating to the holding of the next Commonwealth Games which will be held from July 28 to August 8 of this year.
Both Mauritians officials take, hence, part in a three-day work session organized by the Commonwealth Games Federation. The First Vice-President and Secretary General of the CGA took note of the progress of the preparations at the organizational level and carried out several visits to the various sites which will be used for the Games as well as the Games Village.
“The organizers are working hard at the organizational level. Work has reached an advanced stage at the sports venues we’ve visited. All aspects of the organization have been discussed, including transport, accommodation of delegations, training and the competition. This sporting event will take place in the presence of the public, but strict sanitary precautionary measures will be imposed due to the health context of Covid-19. To this effect, the organizers highly reccomend that all athletes be vaccinated,” explains Richard Papie, who will assume the functions of Chef de Mission of Mauritius at this forthcoming Commonwealth Games.
