Mauritius is hosting the first edition of the Regional Educational Development Training and Tournaments at the National Sports Complex in Côte d’Or since Monday. An international project including training camp for wrestlers, training of coaches and referees from Indian Ocean countries for a week. This program of the United World Wrestling aims to help the development of this combat sport and tournaments in the Indian Ocean in order to standardize in terms of quality and competition in the world.
For the President of the Mauritius Wrestling Federation, Richard Papie, it is a great privilege for Mauritian Wrestling to host this major project and it is also a boon for countries which have not large means to develop further. He stresses that this project is significant for the community of wrestlers in Mauritius and Rodrigues for the long-term vision of the local Federation.
