Mr. Philippe Hao Thyn Voon, President of the Commonwealth Games Association Mauritius and the Mauritius Olympic Committee, was awarded the GCF Order of Merit in recognition of his commitment and contribution, and loyal service to Commonwealth sport on Tuesday. It was during the General Assembly of this body in Birmingham.
Mr. Philippe Hao Thyn Voon was decorated by the President of the Commonwealth Games Federation, Dame Louise Martin, DBE and was among five people decorated on the day.
“I am very honored by this distinction. I dedicate it to the Mauritian sport,” he said.
The former table tennis champion has contributed enormously to the progress of the Commonwealth Games Association Mauritius and the Mauritius Olympic Committee, including the recognition of 28 national federations in the country during his 15 years of mandate.
