Boxers Merven Clair, Ziggy Agathe and Richarno Colin are actually competing at the Elite African Championships, currently taking place in Maputo, Mozambique. The Mauritius Olympic Committee (MOC) incurred the travel expenses for Clair and Agathe, both Olympic Solidarity scholarship holders. These two boxers have benefited an Olympic scholarship as part of their preparation for Paris 2024.
Merven Clair and Ziggy Agathe, who were in action on Monday evening at the African Championships, validated their tickets for the quarter-finals. Merven Clair beat the Ugandan Isaac Zebra Ssenyage (- 71 kg) and Ziggy Agathe won against the Mozambican Naimo Guilherme Cumbane (-60kg) by unanimity of the judges. Richarno Colin won by walk over.
