The final teams for the Olympic Debate Competition have been unveiled. Following the preliminary phase of the competition, which consisted of two rounds and gathered a total of 145 participants, 18 young students, grouped into 8 teams, have been selected for the grand finale scheduled for Sunday, November 19th, at the Mauritius Olympic Committee headquarters in Trianon.
The list of finalists includes the following: Elodie Manargadoo, Shruti Ramessur, Layla Oozeer, Teeshvi Rampersad, Zia Carramtally, Tavishee Veerasamy, Nivriti Kokil, Siddheshvaree Heera, Rytasha Gopala, Nedven Maureemootoo, Hanish Leelah, Sooryavarshi Maureemootoo, Yaamini Calinghee, Neeshrina Boodadoo, Stive Marie Grace Alicie Elodie, Chanpa Pallavi, Jiya Lakshmi Phallavi Awotarsing, Mansi Nunkoo.
The finalists had the opportunity to participate in a training session on Sunday, November 5th, which focused on communication, public speaking, and Olympism. This session was led by Mr.Sanjay Goboodun, the President of the National Olympic Academy, and Ms. Deveeka Bundhoo, lecturer at the University of Technology Mauritius and the Open University. The aim of this training was to enhance their understanding of the Olympic movement.
The draw for the four debate topics of the final competition was conducted on Sunday, November 5th.
This competition, organized by the Mauritius Olympic Committee in collaboration with the Solidarity Olympic and the National Olympic Academy, was open to young students aged between 15 and 18 years.
