The Mauritius Olympic Committee hosted a momentous ceremony to honor the accomplishments of 15 exceptional individuals who successfully completed the Advanced Sport Management Course for the 2022-2023 cohort. This celebration of academic achievement took place on Sunday, May 14, 2023, at the MOC headquarters in Trianon. The event was attended by the President of the Mauritius Olympic Committee, Mr. Philippe Hao Thyn Voon Ha Shun, the 1st Vice-President, Mr. Richard Papie, the Secretary-General, Mr. Hedley Han, and the two esteemed course directors, Mr. Sanjaye Goboodun and Mr. Jacques Malié.
The 2022-2023 graduating class comprises of a diverse and talented group of individuals who have shown their unwavering dedication to advancing their knowledge in sport management and the graduates are: Arishti Hansat, Ayushma Seebun, Chetanand Goboodun, Emmanuel Maunick, Emmanuel Philippe Julien Louise, Jacques Lindley Clifford Montille, Jozsef Rodney Kendrick Piang-Nee, Lavalina Gunputh, Maria Geraldine Virgilia Labroche, Marie Karine Sheron Raboud-Amoordon, Ricardo Mike Andrē, Pravin Roodur, Shameem Saïyad Chady, Vilina Appiah, and Vishal Sawaram.
During his address, the President, Mr. Philippe Hao Thyn Voon underscored the significant challenges that the sports world faces in today’s rapidly evolving and diverse society. He emphasized on the crucial role of education and training in sports and commended the longstanding efforts of the International Olympic Committee and Olympic Solidarity in this regard. The President went on to express his pride in regards to the initiative of the Mauritius Olympic Committee to host the ASMC every year and that has equipped numerous organizations and National Sports Federations with valuable knowledge.
Mr. Sanjaye Goboodun, the program director, celebrated the enthusiasm and dedication displayed by the participants throughout the eight-month program and he highlighted that the ASMC is now one of the most recognized courses in the field of sports in Mauritius and is henceforth being held on a regular basis. He also emphasized that the course’s original objectives, set in 2009, have been met whereby many participants have gone on to serve in Executive Roles within their respective federations, while others have experienced personal growth and development.
The graduation ceremony was a testament to the dedication, commitment, and passion for Sports Management displayed by these 15 remarkable individuals. Their journey serves as an inspiration to future cohorts and reaffirms the Mauritius Olympic Committee’s commitment to fostering excellence in sports management in Mauritius.
