The countdown has started. One month before the kick-off of the 22nd edition of the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, the Commonwealth Games Association Mauritius brought together the Team officials of Team Mauritius, Saturday afternoon at its headquarters to communicate the latest updates on this quadrennial sporting event. This meeting took place under the chairmanship of the President of the Commonwealth Games Association Mauritius, Mr. Philippe Hao Thyn Voon, who will be the Chef De delegation, Mr. Richard Papie, the Chef De Mission, and the Secretary General, Mr. Hedley Han Mui.
The latter made a presentation of the various aspects, including the opening ceremony, accommodation and health protocols.
Three Games Villages have been set up by the organizer and delegations for boxing, table tennis, weightlifting and badminton will stay at Hilton Birmingham Metropole & Moxy Hotels, cycling, triathlon, wrestling and judo at the University of Warwick and athletics, para-athletics and swimming at the University of Birmingham.
Mauritius will be represented in 10 disciplines including Boxing, Table tennis, Weightlifting, Cycling, Triathlon, Wrestling, Judo, Badminton, Athletics (including Para-Athletics) and Swimming for the Commonwealth Games. 62 athletes will defend the Mauritius flag at this event.
The Chef De Mission, Mr. Richard Papie and the two Team Managers, Ms. Aline Li and Mr. Fayzal Bundhun, will fly to Birmingham on July 19 to prepare for the arrival of our athletes.
